The Adventure in detail

Our Adventure started out as planned. We left home shortly after 8 bells. The Beauties were well rested, in great moods and raring to go. We had Mickey D's pan-i-cakes for breakfast, still all going well. The slightly less than four hour drive went fairly well. It ended up taking us a lot longer due to all the road construction. Jocelyn was ornery one. She would not sit still and has officially earned her escape artist title. We arrived and parked and walked to the aquarium. Everyone was "slightly" tired at this point, but still ready to see all the good stuff at Shedd. We paid and went in. Of course endured our normal bouquet of questions. "Are they triplets?" "How do you tell them apart?" and "Wow, you have your hands full." We went in the elevator up to the main floor, as the doors opened, we expected to see a sea of underwater creatures. What we saw instead was a sea of people! I swear I have never seen so many people in one place. We could not move. The stroller was horrible to maneuver through the crowd. People were so rude. Seriously. Family time is always wonderful, no matter where we are, but this was nuts. Grown adults were racing in front of children, stepping on them, knocking them out of the way. It was ridiculous. Matt and I kept telling the girls to wait their turn, and the were so patient and listened so well. So eager, yet patient to have their turns. So many times as they would have been next to view, some rude jerk would step right in front of them. I was appalled. We were unable to take the stroller into many areas of the aquarium. The staff told us they were not allowed. So we took the Beauties out and let them walk, holding tightly to their little hands, sure not to let go as we would never find them again if we did. This would have been fine, however when we went into these so called "no" stroller areas, there were strollers everywhere. Again I stayed patient, not understanding why. But dealing. The kicker was when I took my sweet Chloe to use the potty. Another woman, in the bathroom with her child, literally ran over Chloe with her stroller, intentionally, to get into the bathroom before her. I maybe would have understood if she had not been looking, but she looked right at her and then ran her over with the stroller. This was my breaking point. I glared and then picked up my child and went to the service desk, I broke into tears upon explaining the less than hour and a half experience we had just lived. The gal working the service desk smiled and offered to refund our $75.00 admission. I said that would be great and she apologized again. She gave the Beauties stickers and smiles. After talking with customer service, another friendly woman approached us and commented on how beautiful the girls were and how well behaved and polite they were. She held the door and said "bless you for being a good mommy." She said she couldn't imagine trying to do it with four, three the same age. She and her family were also leaving, said they had a similar experience, and couldn't believe how many rude people that were walking around.
Rude people aside, the girls did seem to get some enjoyment. They loved the penguins and the seahorses and the whales and Chloe got to see her beloved jellies! Maybe someday we will go there again...maybe not.

The eve of an Adventure

It is the eve of the adventure.
We have bags packed, snacks packed, camera packed, clothing changes packed. Check, check, check...we are ready for an adventure.
We are leaving at six bells with the Beauties.
Headed for Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.
There was lots of excitement in the house before bedtime.
Jocelyn is excited for the penguins, Silvie the fish, Farrah the otters and Chloe...yep the jellyfish and octopus. Hmmmm...on that one...she was scared of them before her visit to Florida. So much that she wasn't sure she wanted to go to the ocean.
This will be the Beauties first l-o-n-g car ride. Hopefully they will sleep the entire way.
Look for updates and photos...

Hmmm

What's in there?
The vent that is?
I can only imagine what has made it way down there.
The Littlest Beauties are fascinated with the vents. They take the covers off and put anything that will fit down there. Pacies, crackers, toys, paper, band aids...they even took the remote batteries out and I caught them in process of trying to put them "down the shoot." Red handed. Naughty little Beauties. They think it is so funny when they drop things in and then are unable to see them anymore. Do they make vent locks? I think we may need them.
Another new trick at our house...climbing furniture.
Jocelyn has figured out how to get on top of the dresser/changing table. She shimmies right up like a baby monkey looking for a banana. Then she gets into the drawer where the spare pacifiers are kept and hands then out to Farrah and Silvie.
They can all three open the refrigerator and the freezer, not to mention take things out of it.
They are starting to attempt gate hurdling. Which is a very big issue. As it is "gated community" round here.
Let's see...what other little tricks do they have...
They have started running down the sidewalk when we go out for walks. They think it is so funny to look back and see Momma sprinting after them. (Which, in their defense, it probably is. I am not a runner...never have been.)
They LOVE lip moisture...chap stick, lipstick, gloss...and they like it all over themselves not just on the lips. Oh and Desitin facials are still a hot spa treatment around here.
The long and the short...wow...they are keeping Mommy busy and always on her toes.
Mommy loves it...most of the time.
Oh and if you get a random call from my phone...it's probably one of the Beauties just calling to say hello.

Backyard campers

Out of boredom...the Beauties and I set up the tent last week. Yes I successfully completed set up and take down on my own. Who says Mommy's not a nature girl? The Beauties had a blast going in and out, in and out, in and out. Opening the windows and saying peek a boo was also a great part of the tent fun. Some days...we have to get creative with new ideas. Since we haven't been camping since before the triplets...the tent was due for some action. It was a success. I think next year we may even give family camping a try again.

How many more before school starts?

Chloe has lost another tooth! The count is at three! The most recent was one of her top ones. I am beginning to wonder if she will have any left for her very first school pictures? Her other top one is loose, and so are tow more on the bottom. At the rate she is losing...she may be eating oatmeal and jello as her sole diet. Of course the tooth fairy paid a visit. She left a note that she may have to take out a loan if Chloe keeps losing them so quickly.

Train rides at the park

The Beauties and I hit good ole City Park yesterday for a picnic and a train ride.
That train still rocks! I remember riding it when I was a kid.

New bed for the kitties

When the Beauties and I arrived home from the mall yesterday...it was naptime long overdue.
We when in to lay down for nite-nite and guess who was in Farrah's bed? The cats. Scooby and Daisy. Sound asleep...together in Farrah's crib. Farrah thought it was the "cat's meow."
They didn't stay after they were discovered, but I must say it was cute.

Date Night

Chloe and Mommy had a date tonight. We went to the mall and saw Aliens in the Attic. Cute movie. Chloe loved that we were the only ones in the entire theater.
After the movie, we went to Claire's (Chloe's favorite store) and she bought some new earrings with "her" money she has been saving. She was so proud of her purchase.
It was great to spend some just the two of us time together.
I think Saturday, we may take all the Beauties to a movie...it will be their first one...hmmm...I think I am a bit nervous. But there is a first time for everything right?

Take us to the Fair...part 2

Mommy and the Beauties headed to the fair with cousin Molli and Grammy again last evening. It was the last day, so we decided we had so much fun Tuesday, we wanted to go again. Papa got ride armbands for the girls. They rode some rides. Ate some chicken and noodles and of course more ice cream. Ah...we love ice cream at the fair. We paid another visit to the animals. Cows, duckies and sheep. The girls loved the sheep and cows. Everyone agreed the ducks smelled the worst. Molli, Chloe, Farrah and Silvie even touched a SNAKE! Jocelyn wanted no part of the scary looking reptile! She did not like it at all. Grammy said that the four that did partake in the snake petting must not truly be her Grandbabies. Yucky.
We didn't make the fireworks...just too late for the beauties. They were ready to go about an hour before they were set to begin. Maybe next year.
We love the fair!

We love the Fair

The Beauties had a fun filled day at the county fair today. Of course the favorite of the day was the animals barns and the ice cream (of course). They loved the cows and the sheep. Farrah wanted to take the "piggys" home for some piggy soup, however, I talked her out if it. We did take a picture of two "piggys" "spooning" it is Farrah's favorite. We also saw peacocks and bunnies, horses and goats. Jocelyn learned that she shouldn't put her fingers inside the chicken pens...she got pecked. She laughed. I guess it tickled. They also visited with the peacocks, donkeys and ducks. Chloe, Farrah and Jocelyn got to ride a ride. Farrah and Jocelyn picked the choo-choo and Chloe rode on the swings with cousin Haley and her friend Sammy. Silvie wasn't riding today. We walked through the halls and collected "junk". We even saw cousin Molli! She was there with her summer camp. The beauties were very excited to see her! They are already looking forward to going back on Thursday night! Chloe said she is riding all the rides!

It was an afternoon at the Kernels game Sunday.
Haley-Bop was dancing before the game and we had to go and check out her skills. She's got mad skills, yo. Good job Haley.
The Beauties had a great time eating hot dogs, popcorn and ice cream. They rode the firetruck and the horsey rides. They even got balloon animals by Papa Balloon.
They didn't see much baseball...but it was a good time none the less.

Kisses

The trio were busy with Ring-Around-the-Rosie tonight after their baths were finished. If you ask them what the song is called, they will tell you "Ashies-Ashies." Super cute they are. They were having a blast, and then decided to give each other some pre-bedtime kisses. I love watching them when they are giggling and giving each other love. They always kiss each other at bedtime now and say goodnight and I love you. Melts Mommy's heart every time.

Silvie is not blowing kisses...but how about a "sommer"

Farrah blow Mommy a Kiss

Piggy Soup

Farrah is becoming quite the little chef. Her latest concoction...Piggy Soup. She spent about twenty minutes this morning getting the recipe just right. You know, the right amount of piggies in the pot. She stirred them and heated them on the stove, cooled them in the refrigerator, and then served them to mommy and her sisters. Look out Food Network...here she comes.
