Happy First Day Beauties

Summer went by so quickly.
Too quickly really.
We had lots of fun this summer, but today it was back to routine.  Back to books.  Back to schedules.
New schedules, for everyone.
My Baby Girl is a Second Grader!
I cannot even believe that it seems just yesterday I was bringing her home from the hospital, so small.  She is so grown up.  So independent.  Such a little lady now.  She loves her teacher!  Her friends.  She loves going to school.  She loves learning, loves being social.  I love that she loves it.  Where did my baby go?
Her first week duty assignment in class is the mail carrier.  She gets to deliver mail to her classmates mailboxes, and is VERY excited about this.
She was so excited for her little sisters' first day of preschool today.  She took them under her wing and helped prepare them for what to expect.  Instructing them on how to listen to their teacher.  What to do in certain situations.  It was so sweet.  I know in my heart she was thinking of them all day today.
Jocelyn sprung out of bed this morning.  More excitement on her face than I have ever seen.  She couldn't wait to begin the day.  She knew exactly what to do, as if she had done it 100 times, even though it was her first.  She was calm and ready and even smiled brightly for mommy's camera (which she never does willingly.)  Her Favorite part of the day today was craft time.  She was a little sad becasue she said she didn't get to do a "special job" but hopefully she will get one tomorrow.
Farrah was super excited too, although a bit more quiet with her excitement.  She was the first to get into her first day outfit of course, because her shirt had elephants on it.  She was anxious to show off her favorite animal to all her classmates and teacher.  She posed pretty and couldn't wait to get there.  Her "special job" for the day was to use her "big muscles" being the door holder.
Silvie was the most excited to go this morning.  She ran around the house this morning like a crazy girl!  She was ready before everyone.  When we arrived at school, she found the cubbies with all three of their names on them and pointed them out to Farrah and Jocey.  She also was the first to sign in.  Her "special job" was to be the line caboose and she said she was good at it.  She also reassured Jocelyn that she would have a job "next time."
As I stood and observed for several minutes, watching them interact and become familiar with their surroundings, trying not to break into tears, Silvie walked up to me and said, "Mommy, I thought you were going to leave?"  I smiled.  I hugged her.  I wiped the tear from my eye and I said, "I am sweetie."  I kissed them all again, and I left...I left me babies on their very first day of preschool.
Two hours later, I picked them up, Daddy went too.  They had a wonderful morning.  They greeted us with smiles from ear to ear, and drawings and stories of all that they had spent their morning doing.
A few hours later, we went to pick up Chloe.  Where she greeted us with a smile from ear to ear.  Skipping down the sidewalk.  Happy as a lark.  "I love second grade!"
It's going to be a great year!
 On that note...
Mommy begins her classes on Monday morning...I hope I am smiling and skipping out of class too.

Happy Haircuts

Tuesday was a no school day for Chloe.  We decided to head out and find something to do.  The house is boring and we are tired of toys and movies, we needed some real action.  As we were driving around with no destination...a brilliant idea popped into my head.  Haircuts.  Let's go and get haircuts.
We stopped into the salon that Chloe and I have been to before (not my normal one but they take walkins, which is so much better for us.)  I asked about time for not one but rather FOUR walk ins.  Of course they did not even have time for one let alone four.  So I decided to keep thinking.  I grabbed a price card on my way out and went back to the brainstorm.  As I thought about where to try next, I glanced at the price for a child's hair cut.  $21.00.  WHAT?  For real?  Honestly, I pay double that for my own haircuts (which makes me barf) but, I feel like you don't have a lot of option as an adult, and the prices just keep going up.  The Beauties are cute...doesn't take any "extra" to make that happen.  Still, I felt extremely sick that 4 childrens haircuts were going to be $84.00 (not even including the tip.)  Doesn't really add up.  They do not shampoo, they don't use other product, they don't blow dry, or curl or straighten.  All they do is "trim the hair" so what does that $21.00 go?  Not happening.  They can "rob" someone else.
So we went on our merry way and ended up at Cost Cutters.
They were not busy and said they would be happy to do two at a time, so they wouldn't get as antsy.  Great idea.  (They only charge $9.95 for a kid.  1/2 the price sounded a lot better to me.
The Beauties did great.  They LOVED sitting in the chair getting the "hairs" cut.  They were so brave.  Not to mention so darn adorable.  So different from big sissys first cut.  Poor Chloe was scared to death.  Amazing she loves it now.  Chloe decided that she wanted "just a few long bangs."  She also decided that Farrah should keep her bangs.  Jocelyn and Silvie should grow their bangs.
When all was said and done, $66.00 later, all four Beauties looked pretty darn cute.  The triplets even received certificates fot the "1st" haircut.  Complete with their hair attached.
I think my Chloe girl was a little upset that she did not receive a certificate with her hair attached, so last night after the triplets went to nite-nite, we pulled out her baby book and I showed her the locks of hair I saved from her very "1st" cut.  That made her very happy.  She even commented on how I saved a lot of her hair, compared to her sisters.  She's so sweet.  They all are.

The First Post...

I have wanted to begin a blog, and am finally finding a few extra moments here and there. Usually at 11:00 pm but I always have been a night owl. Well, before I had kids anyway.
Matt and I are doing well, Matt is working a ton! "Keeping our streets safe" as we like to say. I have been working hard too, being a Mommy. I get paid with lots of smiles, kisses hugs and love, that's way better than any paycheck, I think. Almost 6 years we have been married, and 4 bebes later...
Enough about us...I know you would rather hear about the "little beauties".
Chloe is 4 going on 17. We celebrated her 4th birthday at Chuck E Cheese. She had a Barbie Island Princess Cake, thanks Aunt Dee! Chloe is a GREAT" Big Sissy". She loves to help Mommy (most of the time) she helps give fallen buttons (pacifiers) gets diapers, wipes and she even shares her toys! She is attending preschool and taking a Ballet/Tap class. She LOVES dance! She is a born performer! Always dancing or singing and is a great actress too. She loves clothes and shoes (like Mommy). She is a "Social Butterfly"always making new friends. She is the most affectionate child you will ever meet. She is a true GEM. Mommy's Girl!
Matt and I and of course, Chloe too, welcomed 3 baby girls into our hearts on March 11th, 2007. That was when our somewhat normal lives, became, well, not so normal. We learned we were expecting triplets on Sept. 7th, 2006. WOW! After 33 weeks of pregnancy, 8 1/2 of which I spent "living" in the "Mother/Baby Unit" at UIHC, our family doubled. Jocelyn Pearl 4lbs 12 oz, Farrah Grace 3lbs 9 oz, and Silvie Mae 4lbs were here! The trio spent 24 days in the NICU. They had very few issues. Jocelyn and Farrah were on oxygen for a short time. Feeders and growers as they call them in the NICU. We brought all 3 home together on April 4th, 2007! We needed a bigger house instantly! It was so wonderful to finally have everyone home.
Matt was away at the Law Enforcement Academy from Sept 4th to December 7th. WOW, that was a long 3 months! I guess we are even now. Thanks to The Grammas! They were here with extra help while Daddy was away! Congratulations on being "Official" to the Daddy.
We survived the first year! Matt and I are closer than ever. We learned that we can do a lot more than we ever thought we could! Some things are getting easier and others more challenging. As they say on Jon & Kate: It's a crazy life, but it's our life and we wouldn't trade it for anything."
We celebrated the Triplets' first birthday On March 11th. THEY LOVED CAKE! They were not sure of all of the people at our house starring at them though. Farrah was especially upset when it was cake time. Too many faces and cameras flashing. It was a great day and felt like a huge milestone had been reached for them and us too.
We celebrated with a party on the 29th. We had to reschedule because the entire crew was sick with the flu...YUCK!
Jocelyn is so very close to walking! She is the adventurer/risk taker! She stands alone and smiles from ear to ear. She has taken a few steps. I think she will be running soon!
We have also named her the "bully". She picks on her sisters!
Farrah is the "little tiger" she is the Mommy's girl for sure. Daddy says she is going to be the "bookworm". She stands and crawls VERY fast. She also is the one that seems to get picked on the most.
Silvie is the lover! She is the sweet one! She would cuddle all day if she could. Loves her Daddy and Grammy! She is also crawls and standing. I think she too will be walking soon.
We are all happy and healthy, and it doesn't get much sweeter than that!

We hope that you will enjoy our blog site...be sure to visit often! Leave your comments, we would love to hear them. Better get some sleep now, before the alarm clock cries...
