Mommy doesn't like snow

If winter wasn't here before, it certainly hit us last night.  With blizzard like conditions starting in the early afternoon and continuing though out the night, the mid west is covered in a heavy blanket of pretty white stuff.  Okay, I will admit, it is sort of pretty.

I have yet to hear an official total amount.  Due to the conditions, the way the wind blew, I'm sure that is pretty difficult to measure.  It's safe to say, that there is a ton of snow.  I don't remember ever having this much pour down all over the course of one night.  Several days, maybe, but this was literally ten hours.  

Our backyard was nearly impossible to get to.  I actually lifted the beauties over the fence.  They didn't even have to walk around the wall, they just walked over it.  

We the beauties played up and down the front hill for well into an hour.  Until Silvie lost her glove while tunneling.  She was not at all pleased to learn what it feels like to have your unbundled hand buried in the snow...time to go in.  Hot cocoa and warm tub time for everyone was a great end to the afternoon.

 

Snow Days are kinda fun Mommy

Remember how great snow days when you were a kid?
We made some winter memories today.
We were ALL home together today. Which is a VERY RARE occasion.
We "bribed" the Beauties and told them "If you do not take a nap, we are not going outside to play in the snow." After a great nap (for all of us) we bundled from our heads to our toes, found the sleds, and headed to the Winter Wonderland. The girls enjoyed being outside, eating snow, making angels and sledding. After thirty minutes the triplets were finished. Amazing how the mood can change so quickly. I will also say that it took longer to put all the snow gear on than we actually spent outside. Still worth it. Every minute.
We went in, un-bundled and watched Daddy shovel and blow snow, Chloe "helped" too. Snow blowers...they never get boring to toddlers.
We all agree...Snow Days ARE Fun.

Snow Beauties

The Little Beauties enjoyed playing in the snow for the first time today! Yes it is snowing here in Iowa. Actually it is coming down very fast. Miss Chloe is a huge fan of snowy days. Her and Daddy are out in it every chance they have. She is part polar bear I think. I decided since we all have a major case of the "cabin fevers" around here, that we were going to turn our inside day into an outside day (well an outside hour anyway.) We bundled up in snow pants, coats, hats, scarves, mittens, boots, two pairs of socks each (yes this does equal 10 pairs) not to mention an "extra" layer of clothing under all this, and headed out. Jocelyn loved it immediately! Silvie was not far behind. It took Farrah a little bit. She did not want to walk in it! Once she did, however, it was on! They had a great time walking and sitting and trying to run. They even gave the snow a taste. I think from today on, snow days will be some of the Little Beauties favorite kind of days!
