My Lil' Punkins

Pumpkins are a huge part of fall season and Halloween night fun!  I have carved some pretty sweet pumpkins in my days, especially since becoming a Mommy.  This year, I had to take the "easy" approach.  I am still not at my "normal" functioning level.  Surgery has really begun to take a toll on daily activities.  But, that being said, everyday gets better.  When it came time to crave pumpkins (times four) I decided to go easy on the knee.  Rather than spending a huge chunk of time sitting on the floor, digging out pumpkin goo, and then several hours tracing, cutting and carving...we broke out the good ole paint and "decorated" the pumpkins instead.
The Beauties had a great time with it.  They didn't have to get "pumpkin yuckies" on their hands, they didn't have to dig out goo and they were able to do one of their favorite things, play with paint.  The pumpkins were a colorful showing, although, not as gratifying as a candle lit masterpiece.  I look forward to next year , when I will be back to my normal bending maneuvering self.

Silvie is well on her way to being the artist of the beauties.  She takes so much time on her work.  Pumpkins are no exception.  She would have put layer upon layer of paint on that thing.

Farrah was so into her work she was covered from head to toe in paint by the time her pumpkin was finished.

Chloe decided to make an open mouthed pumpkin face.  That way, he could eat Halloween candy.  Smart thinking Chloe.

Jocelyn was so proud of her work, I even managed to get her to look and smile at the camera.  Normally if the camera is out these days, she is hiding in the other room, as far away from the lens as possible.

Chloe was such a big helper to her sisters.

They sure are proud of those pumpkins

The Beauties made a visit to the pumpkin patch last weekend with Gma Val, Aunt Ande and Haley.  There were lots of animals to visit, pony rides and of course pumpkins.  The ponies names were Ned and Princess and of course they all wanted to ride the same pony...Ned won the popularity contest.  Although Farrah decided to give Princess some love too.
The Beauties picked out some big pumpkins and are very excited to paint them.  We decided since Mommy is kinda still unable to dig out 4 gigantic pumpkins we would try something new this year.

Kindergarten Fieldtrip

Chloe had her very first fieldtrip last Tuesday. The Kindergarten classes (3 of them) visited a local working farm. There were pumpkins, animals, corn mazes and most of all MUD. Seriously I don't think I have ever seen so much mud. The kids, teachers and parent helpers were covered in the icky brown substance. There was so much mud, the bus driver got the bus stuck in the muddy field and they had to call another bus to pick us up and have the stuck bus pulled out with a tow truck. It was worth it though. The kids had a great time.

A Strange Fairytale

Once upon a time, Halloween night, a beautiful princess named Jazmin decided to head out on the town with The Three Little Pigs and the Energizer Bunny. They trekked all over town collecting candy from the villagers. Then there crashed out from a sugar high...Yep. It was a good Halloween.

Pumpkin Guts...mmm?

Saturday...yes we were a little last minute...we carved pumpkins. Usually we have them cleaned and carved well before treat or treat. You know so we can light them several times and enjoy the hard work put into them. This year it just didn't happen that way. Oh well, we still had a great time. The girls worked really hard at scooping out the guts. They had no problem at all touching and pulling and digging it out. They even felt the need to taste test the goo. Not just once, or twice...I had to take their hands from their mouths many times. Gross. I mean, I like pumpkin and all...but cooked. We also pulled seeds to bake them up. Big success. The girls really thought the seeds were grand. The pumpkins turned out great if I do saw so. Papa even carved one out for us. Silvie thought he did a super job on Winnie the Pooh.
